Nice weather is here and Lucca is waiting for you with a thousand events!
Spring has arrived – the most beautiful season to visit our city – and Lucca is preparing to welcome you in the best possible way with many events that you won’t want to miss.
On March 30 and 31, the Real Collegio will be animated by Vini delle Coste, a wine journey through flavours, tastings, show cooking, workshops, tasting tables, “en primeur” tastings, local gastronomy, foreign guests and special events to tell the story of a key Italian production.
From April 3 to June 29, Queen Unseen – Peter Hince, the most important exhibition on the famous English band, will be coming to Lucca, with photographs, original memorabilia, videos and rarities that retrace the life and career of the four members of Queen – and in particular of Freddie Mercury –, through the photographs captured by Freddie Mercury’s road manager and personal assistant, Peter Hince.
Verdemura, the gardening and outdoor living market exhibition, held on the City Walls, will make the city even more beautiful from April 4 to 6.
A new edition of Lucca Città di Carta, the biennial festival dedicated to books, publishing, paper and art, a salon for intellectuals, writers, editors and artists who, in the festival, find a perfect meeting and cultural exchange point, returns from April 25 to 27 in the spaces of the Real Collegio di Lucca.
On April 27, those who love walking and running will be able to participate in Marcia delle Ville, an event that has reached its 48th edition and takes place on the hills north of Capannori, in a natural context of rare beauty. Participants will be able to choose from various non-competitive routes winding among historic homes and monumental villas open for this occasion, wandering through their beautiful parks and gardens.
On May 4, one of the most anticipated events for runners and running enthusiasts: the Lucca Half Marathon, offering a very scenic route along the City Walls, the green lung of the city, continuing through the most quaint streets and squares of the historic centre, to climb up the walls and reach the finish line.
On May 20 the city once again turns pink, for the second year in a row, on the occasion of the 10th stage of the Giro d’Italia cycling race. It will in fact be the day of the Lucca-Pisa time trial, which will connect Piazza Napoleone and Piazza dei Miracoli.
And then, get ready for the return of the Lucca Summer Festival, one of the biggest summer musical events in Tuscany, which this year reaches its 26th edition. A month in the company of internationally renowned artists on the stage in Piazza Napoleone and in the shadow of the City Walls, for unforgettable moments of great music and entertainment and the perfect way to enjoy summer in Lucca.
