It’s Carnival time again… “Lucca in Maschera” is back!
This year once again, on the occasion of the Viareggio Carnival, fun events and initiatives will bring the spirit of celebration and fun to Lucca throughout the month of February.
Here are some of the most exciting events on the calendar:
On Saturday, February 3 the San Francesco Carnival will take place, a party for children with games, fire-eaters, streamers and entertainment.
On Sunday February 4, the parade of groups in disguise and miniature floats of the Viareggio Carnival and musical bands. And in Piazza San Michele, maxi screens will be on hand with images of the always impressive floats directly from Viareggio.
In addition, initiatives designed by local businesses and shops: “Discounts in Disguise”, super offers in some of the best shops in Lucca’s historic city centre, and “Carnival at the Table” offering special menus in many local restaurants.
Sunday, February 11 will be the turn of the Fratta Carnival, the traditional carnival of “rags and brocades” – whatever your preference may be – with a children’s party, music, street artists, a street band, guided tours and a photo exhibition.
Saturday February 17, the San Michele Carnival, once again designed for children.
And finally Sunday, February 25, the festivities come to an end with the Villa Bottini Carnival, with recreational activities for children and families, workshops, juggling shows and special surprises.
